Experience the best in contemporary classical music with OpusNovus, the dynamic ensemble made up of talented students from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. From cutting-edge compositions by renowned living composers to hidden gems of the contemporary repertoire, OpusNovus has something for every modern music enthusiast.

This concert features a diverse selection of works by composers Dieter Mack, György Kurtág, Peter Edwards, Wolfgang Rihm, and Gerald Grisey. The concert begins with Mack’s “Gado-Gado,” a lively and energetic piece that draws inspiration from Indonesian music. This is followed by Kurtág’s Wind Quintet, Op. 2, a powerful and intimate work that showcases the composer’s distinctive voice. Edwards’ “Uniform Waves” offers a contrast, with its delicate and ethereal soundscape. The concert continues with Rihm’s “Epilog,” a dramatic and emotive piece that showcases the composer’s virtuosity. The concert concludes with Grisey’s “Périodes,” a sweeping and immersive work that explores the concept of time.
