Featuring memorable melodies such as Happy from Despicable Me 2, well-known whaling song The Wellerman and Spania composed in the classic paso doble style, Fairfield Symphonic Band brings to you a repertoire of toe-tapping tunes that will brighten your day.
Fairfield Symphonic Band first began as the Fairfield Methodist Girl’s School Brass Band in 1967. It began with only the tenacious perseverance of twenty members. It has indeed soared over great heights to grow first into a military band and finally in 1993, a symphonic band.
The band’s goal is to incite versatility, originality, musicality, and creativity in all students who walk through its portals. Over the years, the band’s versatility has attained a high standard of showmanship and recognition through numerous public performances it had and the diverse variety of enriching activities it had participated in.
Mrs Chua-Tan Soh Hwa began leading the band in 2007. Under her baton, as well as guidance from music instructors Mr Patrick Neo and Mr Wong Yin Xuan, the band has soared and reached a new level of excellence in performance and showmanship, where it was awarded the Certificate of Distinction in the SYF Arts Presentation in both 2017 and 2019, as well as Certificate of Accomplishment in 2021.
