Band of Bukit Batok Community Club – West Winds is back at the Esplanade with another instalment of Blockbusters LIVE! – this time featuring the soundtracks of recent box office wonders.
Led by Music Director, ME6 Philip Tng, the concert will feature a combined choir made up of students from Admiralty Primary School, Princess Elizabeth Primary School, Sengkang Green Primary School, Orchid Park Secondary School and Sengkang Secondary School, as well as accompanying movie cinematics on screen.
“As we hope to attract the general public and non wind band concert-goers, we wanted to find a theme that suits best for general crowds,” said James Chua, chairman of West Winds.
“It is always in our vision and plan to work on such community projects with various groups, which provides opportunities for us to collaborate with schools.”
The band will perform music from Marvel’s ‘Avengers’, 1982 science fiction adventure film ‘E.T. Adventure on Earth’ and 2004 Japanese animated, fantasy film ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’. They will also present tunes from Disney’s 2013 film ‘Frozen’ and this year’s hit ‘Aladdin’.
Local artist Hong Junyang 洪俊揚 will make an appearance for Dick Lee‘s ‘追 / Chase’, theme song of the 1996 Hong Kong movie ‘金枝玉葉2 / Who’s the Woman, Who’s the Man?’ and Jay Chou’s 2007 Taiwanese romance film ‘不能说的秘密 / Secret’. Pan Flute Soloist Tan Qinglun will also be featured in James Last‘s ‘The Lonely Shepherd’, a soundtrack from the 2003 movie ‘Kill Bill: Volume 1’.
“By including works with choir parts and accompanying soloists, we hope that not only our audiences but also the choir students experience an enjoyable programme. Do join us this Saturday and immerse yourself in a visual and vocal experience!”
