Authentico Wind Ensemble (AWE) is a group of music enthusiasts that is focused on bringing music to the community.

Formed in 2016, the ensemble has been involved in various collaborations over the past two years. Some of its past projects include PassionArts series performances at neighbourhood hotspots, New Year celebration at the Man Fut Tung Nursing Home, and Christmas performances.

“Having collaborated with arts groups in our previous projects, it has inspired our upcoming concert to be a collaboration with a primary school who would not have many performance opportunities,” said Charlie Quek, its associate music director.

AWE will be collaborating with the Saints Symphonia from Saints’ Andrew Junior School to put up their first ticketed concert. Titled Movie Magic, the concert will feature movie selections from The Greatest Showman, The Lion King and The Pirates of the Caribbean.

“Many bands are looking to collaborate for joint performances these days as the partnerships can help unite the Singapore band scene to allow better learning for all participants.

AWE hopes to continue to promote music making for all ages, skills and talent, and bring music to the community. Eventually, we hope to nurture a community that is interested in making good music.”
