We Are Singapore – A Gift to all Singaporeans

In collaboration with HP Inc, Addon Systems and Retsel Mil Publications, the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Band Family dedicates to all Singaporeans a band arrangement of the all time favourite ‘We Are Singapore’.

“Our band family has always been looking for opportunities to reach out to the public to share our love for music making. This initiative is born as a meaningful project for both current and alumni band members to come together to create something that we can giveback to the band community,” said James Ng, horn player, who is also the current president of the alumni band.

Arranged by Japanese composer Hideaki Miura, this arrangement follows closely on the recently released version that features preface lyrics by singer Charlie Lim, and is performed by some of the very best Singapore talents like Vanessa Fernandez and Joanna Dong.

“We are very glad to support this initiative by NP Band Family, and be part of this local music-making process to reach out to all musicians,” said Constantia Ang, marketing head of Addon Systems, who is also an alumni band member of NP.

“As part of this movement, we have worked with HP Inc to setup an e-Store that caters specially to the musicians – this can be accessed from any of the QR codes provided on the scores.”

The scores are available via www.tinyurl.com/wearesg2018 or here – (Score | Parts), and are free for all musicians to download.

Hideaki Miura was born in 1982. He played the trombone during his Junior and High school days and this ignited his passion in the composing and the arrangement of music.

After graduating from High School, he studied composition at the Tokyo Music & Media Arts Shobi under Etsuo Kawasaki, Masataka Matsuo and Hideki Shinozaki.

Upon his graduation in March 2004, he begins his career as a professional composer and arranger. His works include a wide range of music in different genres for Symphony Orchestras and Wind Bands. His most recent works include, music arrangements for Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Kato Miriya, the CD of Tokiko Kato and Yamaha Music Media’s New Sounds in Brass series.
