Presenting their very first show at the Esplanade this Sunday is the Ngee Ann Polytechnic Alumni Band (NP Alumni Band), under the baton of conductor Mr Lester Lim.
In the spirit of family and friendship, its members come together every Friday regardless of events. The committee also actively organizes a number of social and music projects each year with the NP Concert Band, including its annual participation in the family concert series “Rondeau“.
“The band is extremely excited as it is our first time performing in the Esplanade Concert Hall. Most of our projects over the years are targeted at bringing relevant music to the general community, and we hope to do the same for this performing opportunity,” said current President James Ng, who graduated in 2013.
Unlike the format of a concert, the show will incorporate a narrator, that seeks to take the audience through the Golden Classics from the 60s to 90s.
“Our approach to this show is in the form of a ‘story telling’ format, which we hope to better engage the audience through the little insights in our mini time travel, allowing them to relate more to the music that we will perform for them,” James continued.
“With music from Santana, Carpenters, Whitney Houston and Enka, there is almost something for everyone. We hope that the audience will enjoy the show as much as we enjoy to perform for them.”
