Be wow-ed this Sunday as the band of the Bukit Batok Community Club, West Winds, brings on the big screen with Blockbusters LIVE!

With crowd favourites such as John Williams’s Star Wars and Han Zimmer’s Pirates of the Caribbean, the band will also be presenting new arrangements from Kung Fu Panda and How To Train Your Dragon, along with collated film scenes to complement the music.

Unlike its previous 2015 concert “The Enchanted World of Hayao Miyazaki”, the band will not be accompanied by a choir, but will instead feature a solo cellist from one of Hisaishi’s famous tune, Departures.

Expect a little surprise with a special appearance by a few Star Wars characters, with support from The Singapore Garrison 501st Legion, a worldwide costuming organization comprised of and operated by Star Wars fans. Catch them and don’t forget to take some selfies with them during the intermission!

“Blockbusters is a popular theme for local bands but we hope to be able to introduce other arrangements of these famous titles that are not commonly played here in Singapore. A personal favourite would be How To Train Your Dragon arranged by Bertrand Moren and March Of The Resistance from the latest Star Wars addition, Star Wars: The Force Awakens!” said Gena Ng, secretary, when asked about the theme.

“Pretty sure we are still feeling the love Beast had for Belle and with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales coming right up in a couple of weeks’ time; we hope to ride on this wave of craze to keep you wanting for more!” she exclaimed.

Blockbusters LIVE! will be happening on 21 May (Sunday) at the Esplanade Concert Hall, 5pm.
Tickets are selling fast via SISTIC.

A quote from one of their members:

“Be our guest🕯on 21 May and board the Black Pearl with Captain Sparrow ⚓️ on a musical journey to a galaxy far far away 🌒, where dragons are trained 🐲 and pandas learn Kung Fu 🐼. Departures are part of life 🎻, but we will bravely cross the Caribbean Sea 🏝 and fly into space 🚀with the Force guiding us. Above all, we must reach our destination before the last petal falls 🥀.”
