The Singapore Youth Chamber Winds (SYCW), under the baton of Professor Emeritus Rodney Winther, will be presenting its inaugural concert on 5 June!
The SYCW is made up of youth musicians selected from an audition held earlier this year, who are going through a programme of rehearsals and lessons with the SYCW faculty, and Rodney Winther himself.
In the concert, the SYCW will bring to life wonderful music by Beethoven, Strauss, Francaix and Dukas, amongst others.
To commemorate the founding of SYCW, National Art Council’s Young Artist Award Recipient and NUS Lecturer, Dr. Chen Zhangyi, has been commissioned to compose a work, Homages for Double Quintet, to mark this inaugural staging of youth exuberance. This wonderful genre, which is an integral component in music education, will be presented by the SYCW in its premiere performance.
