Making his debut with the Singapore Wind Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra‘s GRAMMY® Award-winning clarinetist John Bruce Yeh will be in Singapore on 21 April to rehearse with the band for the concert this coming Sunday.

John was appointed solo bass clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra by Sir Georg Solti at the age of 19, and is the longest-serving clarinetist in the CSO’s history. Enjoying an international career as a soloist and a recording artist, he has released more than a dozen recordings that have earned worldwide critical acclaim.

John Bruce Yeh & The Singapore Wind Symphony

John will be performing C.M. von Weber’s “Concertino” and Michael Daugherty’s “Brooklyn Bridge” – a true virtuosic composition for solo clarinet inspired by the stunning views of New York seen from the famous landmark.

In addition, he will give the world premiere performances of Daniel Yiau’s “Suite Yokai” for clarinet choir as conductor and as soloist in Benjamin Yeo’s “Chop Suey”, a witty and highly entertaining scherzo specially commissioned by the SWS for John Bruce Yeh.

The program will also include Pulitzer Prize winner Jennifer Higdon’s Percussion Concerto, a dazzling tour de force for percussion soloist featuring renowned local percussionist Iskandar Rashid.
