TRIO Camp is a 2D1N music camp jointly organized by the NUS Jazz Band, NUS Symphony Orchestra and NUS Wind Symphony; for musicians by musicians.

The camp, being the first of its kind in NUS and the ONLY combined music camp at university level, creates the opportunity for participants to gain exposure and try something new, while making new friends and having fun!

The Band Post explores three reasons why you should join TRIO Camp if you are an incoming undergraduate in NUS.

1. Meet like-minded musicians

Specially designed for musicians, TRIO Camp brings people together through a common passion and interest for music regardless of faculty or prior band/orchestra experience.

You will make friends from various faculties ranging from Faculty of Science to the School of Design and Environment.

However, despite these differences, music will always be the common language that brings people together.

2. 3-in-1 exposure

By participating in TRIO, you will be able to meet and interact with three different music groups in NUS.

Aside from the different style and genre of each music group, this also includes their conductors, tutors and members.

You won’t be able to get such exposure in other camps or any other university in Singapore, because NUS is the only university with such an opportunity!

Jazz music, orchestra music and wind band music, carefully planned at an introductory level – where else can you get such a wide range of exposure?

3. A balance between fun and learning

The best part about TRIO Camp is that it is enriching in its own right, even if you eventually choose not to pursue music at university level.

Each participant will walk away having at least learnt something or tried something new – have you improvised on your instrument before? How about playing in an orchestra? Ensemble music?

TRIO Camp is designed to create a balance between fun and learning so that participants will be able to gain experience and exposure beyond what you can get at most orientation camps.

You can find out what the past participants think about TRIO Camp in the video below.
