With slightly less than two weeks to the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Arts Presentation for Junior College and Centralized Institute Level, a six school band exchange was organised, this time hosted by the Anglo Chinese Junior College (ACJC) Concert Band.
Apart from the various performances by the schools, namely Meridian Junior College (MJC), Tampines Junior College (TPJC), Serangoon Junior College (SRJC), Nanyang Junior College (NYJC), Anderson Junior College (AJC) and the host band, the takeaway for the students is more than just another band exchange.
“It was an eye opener for me to see bands being able to play so well despite playing together for just less than 6 months. While appreciating their music, I have learnt different playing styles and techniques which would be useful in our presentation. It was a very fruitful exchange!” said Germin Chan, from Nanyang Junior College Symphonic Band.
“All the best to the bands participating in SYF!”
